So its true, he though, its really true.Jason Paker had suddenly come to terms with reality. His mother was engaged, and he had only just found out. He had always thought that after his dad died it would always be just the three of them. Him, Sam and Mom. He didnt understand how he hadnt seen all the signs before. He was so oblivious. All the signs had been right there staring him in the face. The late hours at work, her being happy all the time and of course the long weekend trips during which he and Sam had been dumped at Auntie Deborah’s house.Everything was coming together, just like the jigsaw puzzle he bought yesterday.
Now he was stuck having to live under the same roof as Bob, his soon-to-be new dad.He didnt want it to be this way. He wanted things to go back to the way they used to be. Bob wasnt really a mean guy, I mean he isnt great, but if he wasnt going to marry his mother, and take his dad’s place then he would be an okay person.
Jason let out a huge sigh, oh well looks like I have to deal with it, he thought. What is this going to come to? Can i really trust Bob? He asked himself. Jason decided to take a walk, he needed to straighten out his thoughts, which were all twisted and had been turned into a large vortex of confusion and anger. All this anger, currently was directed to Bob. As he walked, he saw that he had walked too far and was in a forest of some sort. “Oh great, and now im lost”, he said to himself. He continued walking and then stopped for a minute when he heard the swaying of what sounded like a stream.
He walked a little farther and instead of a stream, came to a well near a custer of trees. Wishing Well it said. He checked the back pocket of his jeans for change. Lucily he had one penny in his pocker. These things are stupid, but maybe this will turn my luck around, might as well anyway, he thought. He closed his eyes and rubbed the penny with all his might, just like he had seen on that tv show “The Queen’s Nose”. Then he tossed it into the well.
Suddenly he was lifted from his feet and was eneveloped in a whirlwind. He could see different faces as everything spun around him, and he became dizzy. All of a sudden he was knocked on the head by something hard. He felt a sharp pain on his temple and then everything went black. When he awoke he found himself in a circular room. He was petrified, he didnt know where he was and what had happened to him. There were six windows in the the room but they were tinted and he couldnt see through them. He felt as if he were being watched. Suddenly the door opened and he saw his father. He ran towards him and started crying. “But..but..but how? he stammered. “Ask me no questions and I’ll tell you no lies” his father replied. Oh how he had missed hearing his fathers voice, and those famous words.
Jason and his dad spent the whole day together, reminiscing about the old days, and Mom and Sam. He felt as if he was on top of the world. ” Son, I know its hard, but you have to be nice to Bob, he’s a good guy, and he makes your mother very happy, I know she hasnt been happy for a long time, but now she is, and I’m glad. You dont have to worry about how I feel about them anymore, because now you know” his father told him. “Promise me that you will be nice to him, for your mother’s sake, and tell Mom and Sam that I love them and I love you too”, he whispered in Jason’s ear. I promise dad, and I love you and miss you so much”. ” Goodbye Jason, and I love you more than you can imagine” his dad said. “Wait why are you saying goodbye? Im not going yet” Jason begged. Just as quickly as he was brought to him , he was gone in a flash. Another whirwhind swept Jason up and everything went black. “Jason, Sam!!! Wake up, its time for breakfast!” Bob and his mother yelled.
